tangerine Stained eyes

By Ansley Wiederholt

Her lips were glazed strawberries
Parted ever so slightly to show coffee stained teeth

Her eyes were deepened blackberries
Lost in the fading light of black moon street lamps

Her fingers were blighted with frosted blueberries
Numbingly purple in undesirable cold

Her hair was a flowering cherry tomato
Brilliantly plump, frayed in icy wind

Her being was the sweetest raspberry
Every breathing moment sickeningly delicate

Her puckered words were bitter lemons I crumbled before her sour lips
Three words void in withered snowy harvest.
