From a chest by the window He plucks two
Ripened hearts by their strings, knotted and threadbare;
A needle, he calls it, his cold wormlike rue
That stitches away at their pulp and tear;
Sets into vein, cava, and meaty lust;
Each steely cog breaks arterial red,
Fettering flesh to flesh and dust to dust --
A sanguine transfusion on subtle thread.
Their two cleaved halves like single lonely wings
Stitched from wet flesh to a love-shaped thing.
