  1. Exposure
    By Iman Khan
I pluck the petals off of stems
Whose roots failed to hold water,
Who Loosened with the tides
        before spring's youth.
Mellowed with the water of life
I ask them
… Loves me
… Loves me not
But I bury their answer,
sealed in salt stains,
away in tender woods.
And return to the shore
Whose glimmering bones reach the blue
and lifts my roots to the sun
Whose salt draws out the water
And answers the sand
…Loves me
…Loves me not
Still an orchid too wet to cut
I dry out,
Unclog my ears
And listen
…Loves me
