Thoughts on Inferno

  1. Premonition
    By Angela Wei
i love you in a blood way —
ravenous, raving, driven by the same impulse lining the teeth of chaotic predators
when they fashion each other wedding bands
from the sinew of their prey;
i love you in a bone-deep way,
aching with a want which turns every last atom incandescent,
as only God’s clear body may be when held beneath the hand,
beneath the salt-burnt tongue.

i love you in a singed way:
skin a blight, my flesh transfigured into a sanguine pyre;
wild with joy,
with the wine of your heart warm in my mouth
as a new moon teeths in the sky.
