I wish i was a bird // so i could fly away // i wish i was a bird // birds have hollow bones // maybe that’s why // i feel so // e m p t y

I wish i was a tree // standing tall // held down by miles of roots // worried about nothing but the changing of the leaves // my veins feel as thick as roots // though without something to hold me down // i feel as though i might blow away

I wish i was a star // millions of miles away // my skin // my bones // hydrogen // nitrogen // iron // those chemicals run through my veins // maybe i am a star // by the time they notice my light has burned out // i will be long gone
