I know a boy in a big red jacket
It hangs off his shoulder and swallows his little body while he sits by the river and cries
An ocean all his own
And in my little broken boat I row through his memory
I see the time his father broke the bottles on his floor
I saw the time our lips touched in a fit of melancholy passion
I saw the time he learned what the bottom of a pill bottle looks like
I saw the time he woke up in the bathtub surrounded by blood
I saw the time he learned every curve and scar on my body
But while my little boat sank in the violent sea
What I did see was him never loving me
In his big red jacket.
